Ok, the weather from hot went heavy autumn with rain and all and it's just AWESOME. I took out all my autumn/winter clothes and I'm totally in a melancholic mood but in a good way. I just love this weather and I ain't even bovvered that I missed my only chance this week for shopping because the rain was too much to handle.

-Guess what, I still ain't got ADSL. But I've got a painfully slow dial-up connection for the moment so it's a development.

-As far as work is concerned they sent me to another primary school for 2 hours so now I'm between 3 schools and it's EXHAUSTING like hell.

-Fall tv: Lost in Austen just got wayyyy better with episode 3 [pause for obligatory hilarious wet shirt moment]

SDOACG is getting better as well, Tree Hill continues to suck and there is a new BBC drama in town, Tess of the D'Urbervilles. Such a sad story, but great cinematography and performances especially by Gemma Arterton. Can't wait for episode 2. (Couldn't they have chosed a better looking Angel Clare though? This one is just fugly.)

I saved the good news for the end. My friend Maria booked us tix for Ralph Fiennes in London in Oedipus!! How amazing is it that we'll get to see both David Tennant AND Ralph Fienned perform live????? OMG so exciting!!

That's all for now! Take care y'all!

I'm remaining optimistic as far as my current situation is concerned.

+Apparently Skala does have ADSL thank God.

+Previous week rolled very slowly as there was no work to be done.

+House still needs some work done electric-wise and some further decorating but it is ok.

+Dvd player chose this time of the year to break down and tested my nerves. Therefore I was forced to watch Dr 90210 and Heroes on tv. Which both suck in all possible ways. Heroes is one big hot mess and Dr 90210 is one big disgusting mess.

+I hate IKEA and all the fuss and noise that comes with it but I had to visit to buy some stuff for the house last Friday. People are seriously crazy. You just don't drag along your toddler in such shops with so many customers. Poor kids suffered in there and kept crying with horrendous results. Not to mention the HUGE queue for the icecream and the hotdogs. I get it they are extra cheap but there is no reason to queue when you are carrying a gazillion bags and a trolley.

+New Fall TV : Bones was superb with all its royal London-ess. One Tree Hill don't even get me started. Leyton are wayyy boring and evil Dan has been taken hostage by the more evil and psycho nanny Carrie. Misery anyone?  I also saw Lost in Austen which was fun but didn't get me at all excited. Plus I hated Alex Kingston's Mrs Bennet pulling a Tony Soprano at poor Amanda. WTF? Mrs Bennett wouldn't threaten in such a way in order to get her girls married. Plus new Darcy sux which by itself is a major drawback.

+In other news Take That have apparently finished recording and writing their new album and the reports say that it is even better than Beautiful World!! Yayyy can't wait for the release!!

That's all from me for now. Hope to get internet during the week otherwise I'll be back next weekend. ;)

To anyone reading this journal and still hasn't given up, yes I survived the roaches attack. For the past month I was just coming here to update my movie/tv meme because the mere sight of the roach post underneath created me the desire to puke. But now that I'm safely back in Athens in my roach-free house I can continue my blissful writing.

Except today I'm pissed because I just found that COLIN FIRTH was in Zappio ie. here in Athens two days ago for the premiere of "Mamma Mia!" and I totally missed him. Like I will have many chances to see the man up close in my life yeah. The fact that pisses me the most is that I heard no such info on TV and read nothing in the press. And I go to imdb and what do I see? Pictures of the premiere. Grrr I'm seriously pissed. And I also woke up my friend [info]xarmolipi to whine a bit about these news and I'm very sorry but I'm still pissed. Hopefully tomorrow I will have recovered and my next post won't contain the word pissed so many times. Oh well...

Am I bovvered?

If there is something in this world that I utterly and completely hate and that I'm totally disgusted at the mere sight of it even if it's on a photo that's bloody cockroaches. And having spent all of the past autumn, winter and almost all spring in my new house with minor disturbances of all kinds, I was in a blissful state of mind in general. Until THEY decided to greet me after 9 months. And of course they had to come all together.

So here's the dillio. I was about to grab a bottle of water from the fridge on Tuesday night after having watched the semifinal of Eurovision (Go Go Go Kalomiraaaaaa!!!) when I saw one lurking behind the fridge. I thought what the hell and I instantly run out from the kitchen closing the door behind me in case the one (or so I thought naively) freaky thing which shall not be named decided to make an exit. What followed was a series of terrified phonecalls to all available friends and family members. When I calmed down I decided to gather all my strength and enter the kitchen with the repellent spray in one hand and a slipper on the other in order to kill the thing once and for all.

I opened the door and carefully looked around the room when I saw it wiggling its antennas behind one of the chairs. I literally sprayed half bottle on it and when I saw it getting dizzy I finished my job with multiple strokes with the slipper. Proud and happy at my achievement and calm because I thought that I had solved the problem once and for all, I went and sat at the bedroom.

About 10 minutes later I had to grab a glass from the kitchen and therefore I made the fatal mistake of re-entering the room. Upon opening the door what do I see? One bloody thing climbing the wall behind the oven and another one flying on the ceiling!!!! Needless to say I instantly had a panic attack, cold sweat and stuff. I jumped on my bed and stayed there terrified and trembling at the mere disgustingness of the situation. Until I heard a noise coming from under the bed. And surprise surprise I see another bloody thing wiggling its antennas making an exit. Ok, I apparently was totally surrounded by them and I had to run for my life. But I was also very pissed because they had entered my bedroom and wouldn't let me even sleep. So once again I grabbed my slipper and with terror I killed it, screaming with disgust at the same time. Thank God, it was only one that had escaped from the kitchen and I had just killed it.

If you ask me I really don't know how I managed to sleep that night, even for 3 hours. The fact is that I woke up all sweaty and trembling. About 1 hour later, and after I had informed almost all my friends here of my problem hoping that someone would be fearless and volunteer to come and help me get rid of them (of course no one did) I once again grabbed the repellent spray and decided to enter my (ewwwwww) kitchen.

I open the door and there they are. Two bloody dead ones lying upside down on the floor. Which as a sight has merely the same effect on me as seeing two live ones. In an act of desperation I called my landlady who came and broomed them away. But surprise surprise, it turns out there were about 3 of them lying dead under the table and about 7 lying also dead behind the fridge. I tell ya, nothing can match the degree of the disgustingness of that particular sight of 12 roaches lying dead on my precious kitchen floor. Ew, ew and again EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!

Naturally I had to call my mom to come down and help me clean the house and kitchen thouroughly because I'm so disgusted by the whole experience that still after 3 days I can't stay too long inside the house. However the question of where the hell they came from remains unanswered. The good thing is that I've consumed so much repellent that if one of them decides to make the same mistake will face instant death.

I hope nothing similar ever happens to you. Needless to say if I see another one in here I'm so moving to another house!!!!!!

ps: I started driving lessons yayyy! Today was my second lesson and drove for about 2 km outside Gythio. I even made a U-turn!!!

i) If only my bed didn't bend and break. Well actually not the whole bed but the vertical piece of wood on the right which supports the many horizontal wood pieces or sth. Crappy woodwork apparently as the wood which broke was so freakin' thin I wonder how it stood still all these months! And of course the whole breaking thing caused a big mess and I was about to place the matress on the floor and sleep there but thankfully my landlady was very understanding and her husband came along and fixed it, so problem solved (for the moment at least).

ii) I'm out of Office episodes, which is a big pity because for the last two weeks I became used to watching 2-3 episodes each day :( I think I will now go back to finishing season 3 of House. Or I will start Supernatural, I don't know. Maybe both, lol.

iii) I have to deliver grades this week so lots of tests to correct, but I keep thinking that's it's all gonna be over in 2 weeks and I'm elated!!

What's up with you guys? I've missed you all on msn!

*Kisses and hugs*

i) I finally tracked down and bought the LIVE dvd of Keane from the London O2 Arena and it's so much better than I expected!!! I'm so determined to go to their next gig in London and at the O2 and I'm not kiddin'. You all know what happened last December when I flew to London for the sole purpose of seeing Take That perform live. So, who's with me?? :D
I haven't managed to watch the whole dvd yet due to excessive murmuring on behalf of my mum (naturally I had increased the volume a teeny weeny bit to get into concert mood ;P) but here's a video of "Crystal Ball" which got me all excited!! Yeaaaah Keaaaaaneeee!!!!

ii) Still haven't managed to find any proper trainers...grrrrrr. You know what they say, hope dies last.

iii) Just I was about to never see OTH again because the last episodes bored me to death in 515 ladies and gentlemen there is (wait for it) A HINT OF BRUCAS!! I hope I'm not delusional there!! Also the king of all evil "Emo" Dan (gotta love the new fringe!!) not only is back but apparently he's only got 6 months to live unless he gets a heart transplant...and I think he's not bluffing!!! The fact that this show is gonna have a 6th season is seriously killing me.

iv) Tudors on the other hand is also boring me A LOT lately. And not only it's boring me but there are like only 2 shots of Henry Cavill in each episode. Me wanse more Charles Brandon!!

First of all, I'm seriously addicted to the us version of The Office, hence the seemingly weird title by the genius of Michael Scott. The UK version is love but the u.s. version is equally a treat. I'm glad I started it now that I haven't watched Office UK for over a year because the comparisons would be unavoidable.  Jim and Pam...awwwwww!! They were one reason I got so hooked from the first episode. Jim is just awesome. If only guys like Jim existed in real life!!! I totally have a crush on him.
The other reason is that both Steve Carell and Rainn Wilson differentiate from the respective original characters in a very clever way and their performances are wickedly entertaining. Not to mention the brilliant performances of the rest of the Office stuff!!

In other news, today I went for a walk at Floisvos and I loved it!! It was full of people, totally miami-ish with the palm trees and the people sunbathing and playing rackets by the beach, not to mention a lovely park that is also by the sea. I'm determined to go there for walks whenever  I am in Athens from now on!!

I'm off now to resume watching season 3 of the Office since on tv at this very moment there is (literally) crap. I won't go much into it but there is a film with Van Damme on one channel (yuck), a third rate film with Leslie Nielsen on an other channel (triple yuck) and a horendous version of Dangerous Liaisons with Rupert Everett on an other (kill me now). Thank God for the invention of dvd-players.

And finally a meme (snagged by [info]lime_and_salt )

What can I say? I just love this show! Two days ago I started watching season 1 because strangely enough I had began watching on from season 2. I must say that the show has progressed immensely over the years. If there is show that can make my day when I'm in a bad mood it's either Friends or Scrubs. Both rule though.
I really hope that the rumor about Scrubs moving to ABC for an eightth and final season is true because the current season was butched because of the strike and it's not fair to end this year and in this way.

In other news I found out today that both Keane and Franz Ferdinand are recording new albums to be released in September and October respectively! I'm so excited!!

Here is another meme (I got tagged by [info]lime_and_salt )

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now, shaping your spring. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 7 songs. Then tag other people to see what they're listening.

because

i) I can't eat normally because of the holy week fastening

ii) I just saw The Tudors S02E04 and there were very few scenes with Henry Cavill. Also no interesting advancement to the plot except that Jeremy Northam as Tomas More is about to get beheaded. So, all in all a boring episode.

iii) I am super bored.

And especially when you are not responsible for students, hehe! So a bunch of us were bored today and since the day was especially sunny we decided to go to Gerolimenas (that is on the South of Mani region). The sea was just lovely!

It's only a pity that it wasn't hot enough to have a swim! With all these excursions now that the weather is better I'm starting to see the bright side of being in Gythio after all!

And since I'm now back at home and a little bit bored here's a meme as well (stolen from [info]chrs_vg)

1.
Bold
the names of guys you'd definitely shag.
2.
Italicize
the names of guys you might shag after a little persuasion.
3. Leave the guys who don't do anything for you alone.
4. Put a question mark (?) after the guys you've never heard of.
5.
Strike
the guys you wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.
6. ADD FOUR OF YOUR OWN AT THE END.

Yeaaaah, St Trinians finally came out yesterday so I sat and saw it today and enjoyed it immensely!! Aside from the awesomeness named Colin Firth, there were numerous references to Colin and Rupert Everett's films which had me in stitches! I won't tell you the specifics but in order to catch them you must have seen:

-Trauma
-Another Country
-My best friend's wedding
-The Girl with the pearl earring and of course
-Pride and Prejudice (1995-BBC)

Actually I'm gonna go ahead and spoil the last one because I cannot help myself. It's way too genius!!

Also Scrubs is back with new episodes and I'm elated!! I just love J.D. and the crazy gang of Sacred Heart Hospital! If you haven't seen any episodes, I'm totally recommending it.

Today was an excursion day as we took our whole 8 students(!!!) to the environmental centre (KΠΕ) of Agios Nikolaos, a small village about 20km outside Gythio. Aside from the fact that apparently after everybody kept exclaiming how cute school we were, we caught "mati" and returned home like dizzy chickens, we had a great time and personally I reminded myself how much I love being in the nature. It gives me an amazing sense of calmness and fills me up with an inner energy, I can't really explain it but you get the point. I even couldn't stop picking up flowers!!
